11:16 a.m.

it rained last night, and the temperature has dropped to become deliciously cool after the oppressive heat and humidity. i hope it stays this way for a little while, at least. yesterday after work, i went over to amy es to swim in her pool. it was lovely. actually, i didnt swim so much as float around on those foam noodle thingies, occasionally almost drowning myself from some weird maneuver i made. hmmi think you had to be there.

i carpooled to work with my coworker sara today. she lives near me, and she always pays a lot of money for parking, so were going to try carpooling when neither one of us needs our cars during the day for interviews. she was going to meet me at my house, but her car wouldnt start, so i had to go pick her up, then drive us to work. we didnt roll in until after 10.30. good thing our beloved coworker stick-up-the-butt woman wasnt in yet. we made it ten minutes or so before she did. she saw sara, jen, and i sitting and talking, and she said, somewhat sarcastically, staff meeting? bitch.

im supposed to be meeting with a client today at the clinic to go over a diet plan for her, but im feeling lazy and hoping she will cancel. she already had to push her appointment back because of a meeting she had. this sounds weird, but i just feel like sitting here in my good old cube and getting some things done today. i want to get a lot of things in order before i go on vacation next week

and speaking of vacations the friday five

1. How are you planning to spend the summer?
id love to say that ill be jetting off to exotic locales, but ill be working mostly. ive got some plans for a few little trips here and there (montreal next week, washington dc over labor day), some concerts wed like to see, and my family reunion. of course, my boy and i will be visiting each other a lot.

2. What was your first summer job?
oh the shamei was a cashier at a hardware store called busy beaver, of all things. amy e worked there, too, so i was hired through her, sort of. ah, the days of making $4.25 an hour can you imagine being a nineteen-year-old girl, ringing up lecherous contractors while wearing a shirt with busy beaver embroidered on the breast?

3. If you could go anywhere this summer, where would you go?
a gorgeous, palm-tree lined beach somewhere tropical, like in the south pacific. id love to float in the water and soak up the sun or lay on the beach, devouring books while sipping on fruity, cold drinks.

4. What was your worst vacation ever?
i dont think ive ever had a bad vacation. me or my luggage havent ever gotten horribly lost, and ive never become horribly ill while away or anything. usual mishaps have occurred, but nothing major.

5. What was your best vacation ever?
all of my trips have been great, each for its own reasons. going to poland last spring is probably the best so far, though. amy b and i were in a constant state of confusion and laughter from a combination of being in a strange culture and not knowing the language. we still talk about all the craziness.
