2003-04-22 unpleasant signs of spring: *** and speaking of more bugs, there seems to be a proliferation of spiders indoors lately. this weekend, we found two spiders on two different occasions at the boy�s house. this morning, there was one scurrying about the room where i had a meeting. my boss, another coworker, and i were in favor of leaving it alone, but the other four women wanted to kill it. our PI was looking uneasy. i offered to take the spider outside, but it scampered (can spiders scamper?) out the door. when it started dropping from the doorframe on its web, we shut the door on it. last night, when i got out of the shower, my cat came into the bathroom and got into the bug watching pose. i saw that she was following a large spider. since i wasn�t clothed, i wanted it disposed of as soon as possible, so i stuck my cat in front of it, and she smacked and killed it with one of her mutant huge paws. unfortunately, kitty isn�t too bright and continued to stare at the spot where the spider had been even after i�d picked it up and flushed it. *** today, i realized that my life would be in great shape if i spent as much time planning it as i do my lunch dates. amy b and i practically start planning lunch the night before. all this morning, we emailed back and forth about it. we had to determine what kind of food we were in the mood for, how far we felt like walking, what the weather was like, when we were going to get hungry, and other important considerations. however, many of the things that require planning in life aren�t as much fun as lunch with amy b and a trip to the candy store afterwards. *** quote of the day: *** np: the postal service "such great heights" |
