when i was at yoga class last night, i realized how tense ive been lately. my body was so stiff; it couldnt seem to get into the positions that it has become used to in class. the more difficult postures we did last nightwell, they were torturous. i couldnt even completely relax at the end of class when we do progressive relaxation. (the fact that george, the daddy warbucks lookalike, was snoring loudly may have had something to do with that.) if i cant relax in yoga class, i dont know what to try next. i think that part of my problem is that im feeling like things at work and home are piling up. so im going to make an effort to get more organized and get some things done. this morning, i actually made a list of things i want to try to accomplish at home this weekend. i havent made a to-do list in quite some time. i like themthey get my tasks organized, and crossing off completed tasks is so damn satisfying. well see how much i get done this weekend; im planning on being productive.

the friday five

1. What is your favorite type of literature to read (magazine, newspaper, novels, nonfiction, poetry, etc.)?
novels are probably my favorite; i love being drawn into a good story. i like nonfiction a lot, too, especially books about peoples travels.

2. What is your favorite novel?
i cant pick just one

3. Do you have a favorite poem? (Share it!)
i dont think i have a favorite poem, but here is one i like very much, written by one of my favorite poets.

In the same space

The surroundings of home, centers, neighborhood
which I see and where I walk; for years and years.

I have created you in joy and in sorrows:
with so many circumstances, with so many things.

And you have become all feeling, for me.

Constantine P. Cavafy (1929)

4. What is one thing you've always wanted to read, or wish you had more time to read?
i wish i had more time to read in general. i always have a stack of books waiting for me.

5. What are you currently reading?
last night, i finished this cold heaven: seven seasons in greenland. the next book i have waiting is the grass sister, part of a nervousness reading ring.
