10:49 a.m.

many of you know that i am not a fan of the bus. most days, i tolerate being shuttled to and from work on it because, well, it's free. yesterday, however, i wished i'd shelled out the eight bucks for parking and hauled my own ass into work.

the ride in wasn't bad. we had the usual assortment of schizophrenics and interesting-looking folks. and the bus was its usual mess, with the seat cushions falling off and bullet holes in the windows. (they don't send the nice buses out to the ghetto)

when i left work, i thought i wouldn't have too long a wait for a bus to show up. wrong. i waited nearly 45 minutes in the oven that is commonly known as "the sidewalk." the bus was packed, so we all squeezed in. several stops later, the bus overheated, and we had to, as the driver said, "chill" by the side of the road. (note: this was the same driver who threatened to break people's arms for pulling the stop request cord without needing to stop.)

so we "chilled." finally, the next bus pulled along beside us, and we all made the switch. it's pretty much smooth sailing from there.

until the new driver made a wrong turn. down a one-way street.

we tried to turn down a side street, but he couldn't make a wide enough turn, so he ending up scraping the bus along the curb. it make quite a horrific noise. we had to weave in and out of many different roads before we got back on track.

time it took me to get home from the time i left my office: one hour and thirty-five minutes.

i hate the bus.
