3:14 p.m.

today was a strange day. it started out with strange dreams. i haven't been remembering too many of my dreams lately, but this morning i remembered three or four. one of them was one of those dreams where it's more like a movie. you know--you're not the main character, and instead of seeing the action as a participant, it's more like you're watching it from a distance.

so after i peeled myself out of bed and slogged into work, i sat through a meeting where we went over data i've been analyzing for a project. then when i went back to my computer to enter in new data, i noticed that the old stuff was gone. all of it. i was frantically searching for it when i heard something going on in the hallway outside. michael and i had no idea what it was, so we ignored it. (safety first, ha) a minute or so later, one of the professors told us that there was a bomb threat and that we had to evacuate. we walked down the stairs to leave--all 22 flights of them. by the time we got down to the fourth floor or so, people were saying that someone doing construction work on the seventh floor triggered the alarm by accident. we still went outside though...might as well milk it for all it's worth.

we had bomb threats practically every day in high school. freshmen were calling the office from a pay phone inside the school. it was so obviously fake, but we still had to leave. so every day, we had to trudge out to the football field and sit and freeze our butts off in the bleachers. sigh. such fond memories of my public education.

after i got back to my office and freaked out some more about losing my data, it was time for a delightful greasy fast food lunch with special guest stars amy e and beth k. then i fnally went about getting my car towed. since it had been sitting in a no parking zone since friday, it had four--count 'em, four--$44 parking tickets. then i paid the tow truck guy an exorbitant amout of money to haul that piece of scrap to my dad's.

lovely.

now i am trying to renew my license for SPSS so i won't lose any more data. i am computer illiterate, and there is no one around for help. the computer guy here in our center is only here two days a week. what the hell good does that do???

rant rant.

maybe it's a sign that i should go home early.
