2003-08-03 ah, sunday morning� bill�s in the kitchen making me blueberry pancakes for breakfast, and i�m trying to refrain from helping. every time he says he�s going to cook me a meal, i end up helping. today, i�m going to enjoy him doing all the work. we had a nice day yesterday. i made breakfast, and we exchanged presents. i got a rockin� new cordless phone/answering machine from bill. i really needed a new one; the battery is on its way out in my old one, so i can only talk on it for ten minutes or so before it dies completely. i�ve been using an old rotary phone as back-up. we went to the zoo in the afternoon. i haven�t been to the zoo in years, probably not since high school, when i volunteered there during summer vacations. it was a lot of fun. we saw flamingos, zebras, enormous anacondas, tigers, and lots of other animals. the aquarium was really cool, too. the only time i was freaked out was when we went into a dark room that had bats flying behind a screen. bats don�t normally freak me out, but i had to get out of that room. it smelled icky, anyway. after the zoo, we made a yummy dinner and settled in to play scrabble and watch cops (we lead such an exciting life). amy e called, and as i was talking to her, i noticed that bill was acting suspicious�wandering around the apartment, rummaging around for a lighter, telling me to go sit down. i knew he was up to something. it turned out that amy called to distract me so he could fill my porch with candles and set out a bottle of wine. it was so sweet of him. *sigh* *** quote of the day: "cod, dammit, cod!" -amy e |
