11:57 a.m.

another lovely weekend has ended and its back to my cube for another week of work. this morning, my boss and i met with some of the staff at the clinic where ive been doing my research. were ready for me to start my nutrition program there, and they seem enthusiastic about it. im glad that everyone loves the work that ive done. i just hope that the intervention goes well. i guess well find out just how much i know about nutrition and exercise when it comes time for me to teach the classes and run the group.

my boy and i kept busy all weekend. he had a staff meeting friday evening, so we wanted to stay in the niagara area during the day. we had lunch, after which i promptly became ill. i got my tummy settled, and we found his new apartment and stopped in so i could take a look at it. the landlord, his wife, and an unidentified old man with sandals, a thick mop of white hair, and a cigarette were in the process of fixing it up. the apartment needs a lot of work, but it has potential. i think well have fun fixing it up. the kitchen has a nook with windows on all sides that i think will be great for plants.

we drove to niagara-on-the-lake after that and spent some time walking around an exploring some of the shops. its kind of quaint and very pretty (though expensive). when we had our fill of window-shopping, i deposited the boy at his meeting, then proceeded to try to waste three hours until it was time to pick him up again. usually its hard to waste time when you have to, but i didnt have any trouble this time. i did a little shopping at the mall and ended up at the bookstore in a comfy chair with a stack of magazines.

when the time was up, we were both famished, so we grabbed a quick bite and headed off to ikea for the midnight madness sale. it was truly madness. the store was open untilyou guessed itmidnight. we showed up at ten, and it was packed. we had to park far away. the inside of the store wasnt too baduntil we got to the checkout line. it stretched all the way through the self-service furniture area. it looked as if theyd be open until way past midnight to get all of those people out of there. many people were simply abandoning their merchandise before they got in line and hightailing it out of there. we did the same.

we got to sleep in on saturday. it was heavenly, though it did mean we got a late start to the day. i had a top-secret birthday errand to run in toronto (okay, its not so top-secret), so we battled traffic to get up there. and i do mean battle. we had only a little time to spend up there before we had to head back homeward to pick up dessert at the store and get to my boys friends house for din-din.

we had a yummy din and hung out for a bit. as we were leaving, the sun was setting, and it looked gorgeous. we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to stop on a bridge we were crossing so we could watch the rest of the sunset. we had a pretty good view of it. not long after we got home, my boys mom arrived back from the dominican republic. we listed to her tell very animated stories about her week there.

sunday was spent running errands and basically doing anything we could to delay my departure. i hate it when we have to leave each other. the upside is that by delaying, we can spend more time together, but the downside is that i dont get home until eleven or so. its worth it, though.

i think im missing a funny story in here somewhere, but this entry is long enough already. besides, i have a lunch date with amy b.
