i spent last weekend with my boy in ontario. it was very. very. cold. we went to toronto on friday, mostly to get ladytron tickets, and we ended up escaping to the eaton center to warm up. actually, much of the weekend was spent dodging the cold and warding it off with mass quantities of hot chocolate. we also went to an art museum that had a great exhibit of art by inuit women. it was very cool. now i want to learn more about them. i have a similar interest in learning more about greenland. i mean, how many people know very much about greenland? (the number of people who actually want to know about greenland is another matter entirely.) i wish i had this kind of desire to learn when i was in school. but anyway. i had a fabulous weekend.

yesterday, i realized that it's been a month since i talked to my father. on one hand, i feel obligated to call him just to keep up whatever relationship we have, to be the good daughter. on the other hand, our relationship can be so ridiculous. it's painful to try to have a phone conversation with the man. he's so wrapped up in his own world that he doesn't seem to care what happens in mine. but i am becoming more and more okay with that. the man has been so abusive to me in the past that it's just not worth putting up with that stress just to feel like the good daughter. i'd rather have my sanity.
