9:28 a.m.

last night, molly and i went to a brainstorming session (okay, they used some fancy french-sounding word for it, but i forget the word) about redesigning the area of pittsburgh where we work. this area, oakland, is jam-packed with university and college buildings, hospitals, student housing, museums, libraries, restaurants, and shops. it's a unique and dynamic area, and i like working here a lot. in this session, we discussed what works about this area, what doesn't, and opportunities for improvement. i didn't know what to expect coming into the session, and i was afraid that i wouldn't have much to contribute, but i enjoyed it a lot and came out of it with a strong sense of community involvement. there were architects and city planners there, and since those are types of people with whom i don't normally interact, it was especially interesting.

god, i feel like such a grown-up

okay, so then i went home, made some mac and cheese, and played imperial teen really loudly. better?

well, dearies. it's friday, and that means this week's friday five is here.

1. Where were you born?
good old pittsburgh, pa. (in this hospital)

2. If you still live there, where would you rather move to? If you don't live there, do you want to move back? Why or why not?
i moved back here 3 years ago to go to grad school, and it looks like i'm stuck here for a while because of my job and because i have no money to move. i still want to live in arizona. or paris.

3. Where in the world do you feel the safest?
i usually feel safe wherever i go. (maybe i'm just naive.)

4. Do you feel you are well-traveled?
maybe not compared to a lot of people i know, but i like to think so. i've lived in greece and been to paris and poland. i try to go to different places in the US, too.

5. Where is the most interesting place you've been?
i think i've been to lots of interesting places. one of my favorites is meteora in central greece. it was so amagingly beautiful.
